Q. What happens if I miss a scratch or dent?

Remember, our valuation is based on the description that you provide, and if your online appraisal does not match our collection driver’s appraisal, we may adjust our offer accordingly.

Q. What happens if I refuse an adjusted offer?

If you feel any adjustment on our part is unjustified to the extent that you no longer wish to sell your car to us, we will thank you for giving us the opportunity to purchase your car and be on our way.

We would only adjust an offer on your doorstep if we were to find any discrepancy between the details entered online and the vehicle we have come to collect.

Q. Will you charge to collect my car?

No – we will collect your car at the location of your choice and at your convenience, free of charge. What’s more, we are the only company to offer this service. And before you ask, no, there aren’t any administration charges lurking in the small print!.

Q. How will I get paid?

Instant bank transfer of cleared funds – unlike most of our competitors, who offer a 4 working day standard payment, we will transfer cleared funds direct into your bank account, meaning as our driver leaves your premises, you are free to spend your money immediately.

Q. How quick could I sell my car?

The online process takes a matter of minutes and once you have received your quote, our customer service team will contact you either on the next working day or within 24 hours to arrange to meet you at your desired collection address.

An important point to make here is that we will not ask you to release your car until you have confirmed with your bank that the funds are in your account.

Q. A family member or friend has passed away, can i sell their car.?

We appreciate that this can be a difficult time for all concerned and we want to make this an easy process for you. You can sell a surplus car however the correct authority or documentation would need to be in place. If you would like to discuss your individual circumstance, please contact us on 01482 638484.

Q. I have emigrated, can i sell my car.?

If you have already emigrated, it is too late. You would need to sell your car before you leave the country. If it helps we can arrange to meet you at the airport, prior to your departure.

Q. What if I have finance outstanding on my car?

We can settle your outstanding finance as part of the transaction. Due to Data Protection laws, you may have to obtain your settlement in writing on our behalf. You can ask your finance company to fax the settlement to 01482 638527 or email admin@wewillbuyyourcar.com.

If your car is worth more than you owe on finance, we will pay the balance into your account at the time of collection.

Don’t worry if you owe more on finance than the offer price of your car, we will still buy your car. All you need to do is pay us the negative equity balance at the time of collection, using a debit or credit card. We will then pay the finance company in full, completing the sale of your car and settlement of finance in just one simple transaction.

Q. Why can't I have cash for my car?

It’s simply not safe or practical to carry large quantities of cash, so we don’t ask our collection drivers to drive around with thousands of pounds on board.

Q. I cannot find my car on the website?

We buy a large range of makes and models but there are restrictions on age and mileage. We are constantly working to increase the range of vehicles we buy, but if your vehicle is not accepted on the site, we cannot buy it. Please note that entering incorrect information will result in an inaccurate valuation.

Q. Do you buy insurance write offs (usually category C and D)?

Unfortunately we are not able to purchase vehicles that are categorised as a ‘total loss’; typically, these vehicles are classed as category C or D by insurance companies.

Q. Is there a maximum age or mileage that you do not buy?

Yes, we do not buy cars that are over eight years old, or have over 80,000 miles on the speedometer.

Q. Why will you not buy an imported car?

There are often differences in specification between imported and UK cars, and even if these are slight, they do detract from the value. What’s more, as a rule, people who buy a used car that was originally imported expect to pay less than they would if buying a UK car. All this means that putting an accurate value on an imported car requires the intervention of an expert on a car-by-car basis.

One of the key factors which draws people to wewillbuyyourcar.com , is the speed and efficiency which our completely automated service offers. For these reasons, we have chosen not to deal in imported cars.

Q. How do you calculate the price for my car?

The price is calculated automatically when you submit your car details. This is done through the advanced software technology at the heart of wewillbuyyourcar.com, which allows us to make a calculation based on your specific car details, and not merely an automated, generic price.

We don’t just take your input details and then attempt to pre-sell your car before making you an offer, nor do we try to take advantage of you if you want to sell your car quickly – in fact, quite the opposite. Because we actually want your car, we generate our best price for each car, every time. Our prices are remarkably accurate in terms of the prevailing market at any given time. They are also guaranteed, providing that you have been careful and accurate when inputting the details, and that you make your car available for collection at the time and place you have chosen.

Q. I do not have a V5 registration document?

We do need your original V5 document if we are to buy your car. If you don’t have one, don’t worry, you can obtain a replacement through the DVLA.

If the car is registered in your name and your address, you can get a duplicate document over the phone. The number to call is 0300 790 6802. You should receive your replacement V5 document within 3 – 4 working days.

If the car is not registered in your name, then you will have to fill in a V62 form. You can download this form below or pick one up from any Post Office. The completed form and appropriate fee should be sent to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AR. A new document will then be issued to you in about 3 – 4 weeks.

Q. What is Price Match?

It is a customer offer to match any genuine online offer. This is not based on an indicated valuation. It is based on an offer which has taken into account all aspects of the vehicle, resulting in a genuine offer to purchase.

Q. What happens if I recommend a friend?

We’d love you to spread the word about our unique service. After you’ve sold your car to us, we’ll send you an email with a unique reference number for you to forward to your friends and family. All they need to do is quote this number when they sell their car to us, and as a thank you we’ll send £25 in Marks & Spencer vouchers to you and them.

Q. Is part-ex not a better option for me?

If you are looking for a new car, you may be considering a part-exchange. When you part-ex your car at a dealership, the dealer calculates the amount of money he will make on your old car and your new car combined. Dealers may offer you what seems to be a very good part-ex price, but that will probably be to persuade you to buy an over-priced new car! Without doubt, the best way to negotiate at any dealership is to have cash in your hand and be ready to bargain hard.
